Copyediting
Looks specifically at the text and corrects errors in grammar, punctuation, jargon, formatting, and semantics. A copyeditor works closely with the text ensuring correct, consistent, and clear writing.
Proofreading
This is typically considered to be the final stage of the editing process. Formatting and grammatical errors are corrected in the text that may have been overlooked during the copyediting and design phases.
